so this is what sunshine looks like

A while back, I posted some pictures from a shoot for one of the roommates' portfolio; she is an apparel and textiles major (my minor) here at Appalachian and she is extremely good at it- or at least I think so and that's all that counts, right?
As I looked through these photos, meanwhile hiding out in the apartment from the bit of Antarctica that has taken residence in Boone, I was reminded of a brighter and sunnier time.  It's called summer.  Or maybe early fall?  Still, even though I don't look as good as a vampire this pale and the simple act of getting dressed is exhausting due to the layers required, it is good to be back in the snow.  Hopefully there will be future posts showing the use of my multiple pairs of new boots I'm getting extremely good use out of.

One last thing, you may notice a lack of recognition to the locations I bought my clothing.  That would be because a majority of the clothing is made by the ridiculously talented roommate!  Good news for everyone: she has an Etsy site so you can still shop here.  Do it!

The Best Things Happen While You're Dancing

I think I have officially decided (after having our annual family viewing of White Christmas) that I will be using this song as my first dance with my husband.  There may or may not be an actual reenactment of this dance scene, but that all depends upon how convincing I can be towards future fiance that I have not met... if you have just been reading this and have absolutely no idea what I'm talking about, PLEASE go here  and watch.  NOW.

On another dance note, I was in a dance performance for one of the touring shows of the North Carolina Dance Festival this past weekend.  I'm not positive if I have brought this up previously, but I was a dance major last year at UNCG and although I was sad to leave my new friends, transferring to Appalachian was the right choice for me.  Still, when three of my best friends from Greensboro told me they would be making their way up the mountain to visit me, I began planning for all of the wonderful places to take them to eat!  During our tour, we ended up where I was once run over by a live snitch.  I love how my life constantly relates back to Harry Potter.  To finish up, here are a few pictures from our day around Boone.  I'm sorry they're mostly silly, that's just what happens when we get together.

I will say, at an attempt to get some fashion talk in here, my outfit was perfectly comfortable (and I hope cute) for walking around on a breezy day.  Oxfords will always be my first pick for shoes!

All the Greensboro girls with Yosef.
I will miss the Greensboro girls!  Until next time, I love you.

Fashion Show, Fashion Show, Fashion Show at Lunch

Hopefully, anyone who reads this regularly knows that I am now going to Appalachian State University.  I was set up with my new roommates through what I can only imagine is an act of God, considering how ridiculously compatable we are.  If you literally took my roomies, squished them into one person you would end up with me.  Maybe subtract their cooking skills that I obviously lack.

So, recently I posted a couple pictures of one of my new roommates, Katie. Now I will be introducing Emma, who just so happens to have her own amazing collection. She was just recently asked to show her clothes at the apparel market in Atlanta this week, and in preparation asked for my help with some photos. It was probably the most fun I have had this week, but who doesn't love dressing up in adorable clothes and playing model for a couple hours? Actually I will say I enjoyed the time behind the camera more; still, here are some of my favorite shots we took.
To shop Emma's designs you can go to her website, and I will watch her sew your clothes!

the countdown starts

This summer, for me, has been extremely packed and crazy.  Between work, my friends, and my side projects I've created for myself, there has barely been a moment to relax.  I have only watched one full episode of Wipeout, just to give you an idea (and if you have never watched Wipeout on abc, you've been deprived of a real ab work out).

Even with all the business going on, this past week, I started getting this feeling that I couldn't identify.  It started with wanting to find new restaraunts that I've never been to, and ended with me going to a consultation appointment at my salon for dying my hair!  (Still debating the latter...)  As I talked to one of my close friends, and then my sister about the same thing, I realized that haunting feeling is restlessness.  With all the pretty big changes I am making in my life, I'm waiting for them to have some major effect on everything else.  Especially after finally deciding what I want to and where I want to go, I'm ready to begin all those things now!

This past year, some one told me the patience she had to have while waiting for their boyfriend (now fiance) to "court" her was one of the hardest things she had ever done.  She also claimed it was the most important thing she had ever learned.

I could definitely take a lesson from her at this point.

Last thing, promise.  Here's just a few pictures, a couple from Norman Jean Roy, and most of them from, my favorite, Teen Vogue!

Happy Hump Day (:
